Order of Knights
Henry III. the Illustrious
Brief information on the Order of the Knights Henry III the Illustrious

Participation in events is voluntary and honorary.
The knights and ladies bring an interest in history and are willing to share their knowledge.

What is very important:
The opportunity to earn money with our engagement is extremely rare and is also not the main focus.

Honorary members in the RV SIFEB of the Wettin Princes' Road e.V.:

Prof. Dr. h.c. Gerd Biegel, Director of the Braunschweig State Museum. He is constantly involved in history, culture and science and supports the history regulars' table of the "Fürstenstraße der Wettiner" e.V. association as a speaker, of which he is an honorary member.

Band of the voluntary fire brigade Nauendorf in Tradition e.V. (represented by the respective leader or a person appointed by him/her). The Band has supported us for years at the Thuringia Day and the Wine Festival in Bad Sulza.

Explanation of the knightly orders of history and the present (short form):
As is well known, some knighthoods of the medieval orders have survived to the present day, e.g. the Knights of St. John, the Order of Malta, the Teutonic Order, the Order of St. Lazarus, the Benedictines, the Dominicans, the Cistercians, etc. Only we must no longer think of these as fighting knights and monks; today the men and women use their strength in social service, i.e. in caring for the sick and the elderly.
Example:
Johanniter Unfallhilfe, Malteser-Hilfsdienst, Diakonie, the nuns in Helfta Monastery. Werningshausen Monastery and Augustinian Monastery in Erfurt, the Franciscans, Benedictines at Wechselburg (Zschillen).

The German Order maintains a nursing home in Erfurt, for example, the Order of Saint Lazarus maintains nursing homes in Berlin and Bad Kösen, the Knights of St. John in Nebra, etc. (the list is not exhaustive). (The list is not exhaustive) The health and social services of these orders are partly financed by contributions and donations from the associated knights. The contributions here are calculated according to the amount of income and are set as a percentage.
We do not want to put ourselves on a par with all these. So far, our knights only pay an extremely moderate annual fee in the regional association.

But we also do voluntary work or help:
We help to reappraise history in that, for example, Prof. Dr. h.c. Gerd Biegel (honorary knight) voluntarily gives lectures at the Stammtisch der Geschichte.
Through our commitment, we contribute to tourism in our regions and always strive to make our partners known beyond the country's borders.
We promote the cooperation of the clubs, provided they are willing to enter into a cooperation.
We support student project days at castles.
Examples:

Castle Allstedt:
150
Pupils from Bad Sulza (50 children each on three different days)

The children's bower made it possible for the children to be dressed accordingly on site, which made it immensely easier to immerse themselves in the story.

Wasserburg Schkölen:
96
Children from Schkölen and surroundings

46
Children from Eisenberg

44
Children from the mountain school Gera

The knighthood:
The knighthood is received only once in a lifetime.
If a knight wishes to join another order, he is obliged to announce that he has already received the knighthood.

The Statute:
The statute was drafted especially for the Order of Knights and is binding for the knights.
Every knight swears at the knighthood that he recognises the statute and acts according to it.

The Knight's Salute:
The knight's salute is identical at home and abroad, as well as in almost all knightly orders.
The right hand is clenched in a fist, placed on the heart and a short bow.
In this way, the knight confesses his membership of an order.

The Grand Master:
The Grand Master is the highest member of the Order and so he must also be presented to interested people.
An introduction as Landgrave is only given when the Order of Knights is holding a medieval event or participating in an event for image enrichment.

The commanders
The commanders are appointed by the Grand Master for a specific area to foster cooperation.

The novices:
Candidates for knighthood perform 1 novice year.
The prerequisite to date is 1 year of active membership in the regional association SIFEB der Fürstenstraße der Wettiner e.V., which has its headquarters in Bad Sulza.
